Youth play a vital role in the Wellington Presbytery. They are not "disciples in waiting" but "disciples in training" and we see them as vital to the Presbytery's ongoing health. Many of our churches have youth groups staffed by volunteers.

We currently support and fund the Joint Youth Ministry Committee (JYMC). This committee was set up to assist youth leaders in the greater Wellington area. They do this by helping the youth leaders build healthy Christ centred youth ministries. They also provide opportunities for networking, training, resourcing and advocacy to all those working in youth ministry. And offer young people opportunities to grow in their faith.

For more information visit the JYMC website, at www.jymc.org.nz or contact Nga Larsen the Area Youth Coordinator for details about upcoming events and any queries you may have concerning youth in the Presbyterian churches in Wellington.

FilmFest 2009

JYMC recently held its annual FilmFest where Presbyterian and Uniting Youth Groups from around the area compete against each other to produce the best movie.

This year there was a slight twist on the usual format with movies required to have a "Helping Others" theme to score well on the judges cards.

This year St Barnabas, Plimmerton Presbyterian was able to retain their title with their movie STORM. However they were pushed hard by entries from St John's in the City, Wadestown and Miramar Uniting churches. The level of movies continues to grow every year with higher and higher expectations on the FilmFest every year.

Please watch the winning entry from St Barnabas by pressing play on the video.
