There are a wide range of mission activities carried out by the 31 churches and various connected ministries  in Wellington Presbytery, such as Pancake breakfasts, Foodbanks, craft groups, Carols in the park, Mainly Music, playgroups, school services and events, youth activities and social justice initiatives.  Each churches mission is unique to their geographical location and needs of their community.

Pioneer Mission Coordinator

Rev Sue Fenton was employed by Wellington Presbytery in a part-time  role for a period of three years as Pioneer Mission Ministry Coordinator in November 2009.  The purpose of the role is to provide leadership to a pilot project to resource the mission and community presence of congregations within the Presbytery of Wellington.

Sue works with ministers, church councils and congregations to explore and encourage new and effective forms of mission and worship as part of a pilot project in facilitating effective contemporary mission.

Since beginning in the role, Sue has started a Presbytery Mission Bookclub, which is open to anyone in Wellington Presbytery.  Discussions are based around the current reading, and offer a place for further learning, reflection and sharing for those engaged in local mission.

She also helps organise the annual Presbytery resourcing day, and has initiated this website. Sue also produces a Mission newsletter every two months, and is working with individual congregations on various aspects of mission.

Sue is currently working on developing some workshops which can be offered in 2010 to Parish Councils and Sessions to encourage and foster mission.
